On the route from Tomatin to Pitlochry there’s a small village, Kincraig, where we saw signs for a café gallery, so a stop for a cup of tea was in order. We weren’t to know what a gem we’d found!
After chatting to Toni the owner, we’d been educated on how the local war memorial had fallen into disrepair. After taking over the old post office in 2019 and learning that the telegrams informing next of kin of casualties all came from this post office, Toni thought he owed it to the young men of the village, named on there, to bring the memorial up to standard.
Unfortunately Covid has delayed his plans but having secured funding and help from the local Royal British Legion, Toni is hopeful of having some repairs completed by end September 2021, 100 years after the memorial was completed.
Being a keen cyclist, Toni has completed a JOGLE himself, and is thinking of joining us on BBBR22 (Help for Heroes’ signature event – the Big Battlefield Bike Ride 2022)
