Day 7 (6 riding) and back to it for 86 gruelling miles to Washington (Sunderland).
We have now crossed into England. Tough hills today and some bike issues on the way (not mine I hasten to add). One guy had a pedal break and the other, Jon Knott on the trike, had his 3rd (or is it 4th?) puncture on one of his front tyres which are a special size that are proving very hard to get tubes for. But on both occasions our own international rescue bicycle repair man (come General support driver) who’d flown in from foreign parts to join us used his “hands of god” to fix both bikes. This is on top of his spending half of yesterday on our rest day working on the bikes to get them fit for the week (you can’t predict a puncture or fancy pedal collapsing!). His hands that do miracles sorted my troublesome gears in seconds on the first day he arrived. He may at times appear in some photos in future bulletins.
BTW the foodstore Morrisons have really been supporting us along the way with meals in store at times and loads of bottled water.
