Day 17 – 13/09/21 – The Tin Hut

In the summer of 2007, Bryn and Emma Parry brought together a very small group of people to raise money for Wounded, Sick and Injured Servicemen and Women.

Having no money, a six foot table was placed in one of the volunteers attic to be the ‘Office’ of this fundraising appeal. Having decided that this would probably not suffice and still with no money, a search party was sent out to find an office space for free!  In the grounds of Aspire Defence, Tidworth were some ‘Tin Hut’ offices that were used for Start Up businesses.  With gentle persuasion this fledgling charity was given a small office for a ‘peppercorn’ rent.  The Home of Help for Heroes had been found.

Manned exclusively by volunteers (everyone was!) this quickly became the home for these passionate, committed, dedicated people.  A place of inspiration, with an ethos of kindness and positivity, a sense that anything was possible and a fair amount of cake, The Tin Hut exemplified everything that the team wanted Help for Heroes to be… …and it remains the very beating heart of the Charity.
